It began as a pilot concept to create a branded journalistic series that contextualized Verizon news with current events and editorial inquiry.

It has grown to an 47-and-counting video series that has, across all channels, surpassed 3.5 million views.

Creating the standard.

In order to meet the rigorous brand standards and deadlines this project presented, a flexible template needed to be created that could tell the Verizon News story across a variety of written and visual systems.

I worked with our project’s design lead to create a visual template that would be able to translate efficiently and stylishly to animation so that we could establish an ownable visual style to differentiate our video against all other social-information content.

Think 60 seconds.

As social-first project lead, I helped guide our team towards a mindset short form journalism (See: Now This), creating a high potential of social usability for our content.

I have also helped to steer our client towards this vision. At one junction, I provided case points and education to client about the power of the :59 time limit, especially on one of their main distribution platforms, Instagram.

Consistency is key.

By creating a series of design and edit laws, we have honed in on how to keep language direct, visuals energetic, and data relevant.

While these videos frequently support timely product launches or technological breakthroughs, at least one has been commissioned as Evergreen content.

To ensure consistently and optimization across social platforms, all videos are exported in 16x9 and 1x1.
