Goodbyes are good…

Well, tonight is finally the night to close the doors of our beloved Bartwenty3.  Love it or hate it- Bartwenty3 has been the place to go for the past 5 years.  It was always there, haunting us, because as soon as you walk through those doors, the smokey air fills your lungs, Shane-Sam-Josh-or Oshea hand you that vodka-redbull, mindub or lunchbox spins you that song you have been DYING to groove to- all bets are off.  There are no windows at 23, no concept of time, just friends, lovers, exlovers and soon to be lovers, music, cocktails, and dancing without a care in the world.

Bartwenty3 is sentimental for some people.  For me, its where I  hosted my best friends bachelorette party, my first time to go I went with a long time friend- we had our first kiss there and the next day he was my boyfriend (for the next 2 years…how does this happen?), it is where I met Tim Hiber- one of the greatest!, it’s where I was introduced to the shot “daddys money” (thanks to Brandi), it is where I have attended COUNTLESS birthday parties, it is where I have celebrated many New years with loved ones (even the ‘rents) and where I first got to know Benjamin Goldberg, one of the funniest guys- also one of the hardest workers I know….& Austin Ray, who has become a great friend.  Both of them will be successful in anything they do.  I wish Ben, Austin and the rest of the staff at Bartwenty3 the best of luck in their future endeavors. It is definitely the end of a  special era.

PS- I don’t care how sick you were of “Don’t stop believin” every Wednesday night at 23, it felt like the first time.
