Dear Nashville Friends,
In March 2008, I started a group called WAV- Women Acting with a Vision. Our mission statement is “Women Acting with a Vision strives to unite women of Nashville for mutual career development and positive community involvement”. Part of our “community involvement” goal was to find an organization to partner with, an organization that supports our focus which is young women in need. After a year of researching many organizations in the Nashville area we decided to partner with Mercy Ministries, founded by Nancy Alcorn.
I could go on and on about how wonderful this organization is but I will just leave you with these few details: They are a faith based, non-profit organization (do not take money from the government) designed to meet the needs of young women ages 13-28 facing life-controlling problems such as eating disorders, abusive relationship patterns, addictions and depression. If you want to learn more about this incredible organization you can visit www.mercyministries.org.
I send you this note to let you know that WAV is running in their first annual Run for Mercy 5k this Saturday, October 24th! I know this is extremely late notice, I am still getting used to balancing my school and work schedule, however I wanted to go ahead and let you know about it. Should this be something you would be interested in being involved with please go to runformercy.org>”join a team”>”Nashville”> “Join a team”> “Search for team”> “Team WAV”. It’s a $20 fee to run.
If this is not something you can do at this time (especially being so last minute!) but would like to learn more about Mercy Ministries then please let me know! I’d love to have lunch with you sometime and tell you all about it.
Yours,
Brittj
